Hovercraft Tips – Request Free Guide
Check whether Hovercraft is supplied with full warranty.
Some new hovercraft lack engine warranty. Some suppliers upgrade engines to extract additional power out of cheaper lawn mower engines, and in doing so will invalidate the engine manufacturer’s warranty, so always check if full warranty is supplied, otherwise you may suffer problems.
Engine manufacturers do not want their products to run at full revs all day, so naturally don’t endorse modifications of any type. Some hovercraft suppliers will fit cheaper engines so as to appear more price competitive, in the same way that cheap shoe manufacturers might fit cardboard soles rather than polyurethane or leather soles. We all like a good deal, but purchasing a modified engine without warranty does not constitute a “good deal” when things go pear shaped.
Some suppliers leave off essential rear fan guards to allow better duct air throughput. The Hov Pod hovercraft is supplied with full front and rear fan guards even though this restricts air through the duct. We fit 65HP twin ignition aviation engines and 120HP Turbo powered 4-stroke engines – they cost more than lawn mower engines, but are supplied with full manufacturer’s 12 month warranty – engine suppliers are confident they will operate trouble free.
